Guess what?

This is how we told Michael's parents that we were expecting a new baby this coming September. Since our little one will be the 12th grandchild for them, I thought a dozen eggs would be the perfect way to share. Especially because I know that Michael's mom always makes a breakfast casserole that uses a dozen or so eggs for Christmas morning.

The best part about this was Michael was helping out, but he'd been asked to crack the eggs. With some swift thinking on his part, he ended up stirring the cheese sauce. Michael's mom started cracking... without even noticing at first that something was written on the eggs. She also had the carton facing away from her. The names were written so that when you opened the carton normally, you'd see the names. Michael asked if something was written on the eggs. He had to help her out a little bit. Michael's parents examined the remaining eggs and wondered why anyone would write their grandchildren's names on the eggs.

Fortunately, I had thought ahead and written the names on the 2 full dozen eggs in the fridge. I skipped the partial container... I pulled the other carton out and opened it up so they could see the full picture.

Michael's mom laughed and laughed once she realized what was going on. It was great to see her face. And then she had to show everyone the egg carton...

***UP NEXT: My mom's reaction... now that I have all the details, and pictures, from my sister.

That was the most exciting surprise of Christmas. The way you made the announcement was very special and I will always treasure the memory of it. I am so happy for you and Michael. I can't help but think of Daddy's favorite saying.

"God is good; all the time!"

We love you.
