For those who are reading and may not know, my mom is a teacher. Spelling, grammar, those sorts of things were hammered into our heads as we grew up. After all, a teacher's child should know more than the other kids, right? ;)
So, I have gone through life wishing I could rewrite signs, correct other's spelling mistakes, and fix their punctuation. This one though just leaves me wondering what exactly they are looking for.

maybe they couldn't decide on a vowel so they just put in both...maybe?
Someone else I know might have done some creative spelling of the word dirt. But I agree with you, clean dirt just doesn't seem right.
Yeah, that's bad. Things like that bother me too. I almost started a blog with examples of that kind of thing, but I decided not to. I see "clean dirt" signs all the time. I'm wondering what dirty dirt is if there is such thing as clean dirt.
